tony-lloyd

Tony Lloyd aka The Short Armed Golfer

President

A very keen golfer and playing off a handicap of 7, Tony is a former world number one disabled golfer (2019) and plays regularly on the European Disabled Golf Association tour.

Tony is someone who has benefited greatly from the amazing work undertaken by SpecialEffect. Being unable to use the triggers and bumpers on the back of the modern-day controllers, SpecialEffect has now configured a set-up where he uses buttons with his feet instead, opening up the world of gaming. Even with all the gear, my son says I’ve no idea. I still can’t beat him at FIFA (EA FC), COD, etc.

fred-gill

Fred Gill

Vice-President

Fred has been a fan of the amazing work that Special Effect does for 6+ years. Fred sold his first game over 40 years ago and recently semi-retired from Respawn Entertainment to make games on his own (for himself and unsuspecting family members). He’s also going to use some of the time to see if he can actually play golf after 30+ years of practice (early signs not good!).

liz-fitzgerald

Liz FitzGerald

Treasurer

Liz is a games industry veteran having spent almost 30 years at PlayStation and is also currently serving as Treasurer and Board Member at UKIE.

The less said about her golfing talents the better! Easily summarized as ‘bags of enthusiasm but lacking in skill and talent’!

tim-stokes

Tim Stokes

Secretary

Tim is a former SVP at Sony Interactive Entertainment (2000-21) and currently works as an independent consultant and board member within the gaming industry. Tim has been a supporter of SpecialEffect since 2021 and is a keen (but not talented!) golfer and a member at Flackwell Heath Golf Club.

Other Committee Members

alan leitch

Allen Leitch

Allen is a creative lead with 20+ years in and around the games industry, contributing to some of the most critically acclaimed (and profitable) franchises in history. Allen’s new venture: VS/FX is leading the charge in utilising spatial media in the creative industry. Allen is erratic off the tee, deadly from 60 yards, and his putting is atrocious and is a member of Chestfield Golf Club in Kent.

dave-parkinson

Dave Parkinson

Dave is a games industry veteran, having served almost 30 years at PlayStation. Enjoys a love/hate relationship with golf (doesn’t everyone?!), prefers to play bucket list courses where he can rather than being tied down to a membership in one location and is currently on a crusade to play every venue that’s ever hosted a British Open – 12 down and just Prestwick and Musselburgh to go.

nick-streeter

Nick Streeter

Nick has been a fundraiser with SpecialEffect since it was formed in 2007 having previously worked with Founder Dr Mick Dongean who has a family member and many friends who have been helped by the charity.

Nick doesn’t currently play golf (outside of Oxfordshire‘s premier crazy golf course) but given the state of his main sporting interest of Everton FC his fellow committee members believe it will only be a matter of time before he gives in to pressure and to the bribe of a post-round Guinness and sausage roll and takes it up.

matt-wilson

Matt Wilson

Matt is a PlayStation veteran with close to 2 life sentences of service, (is also a stone heavier for every one of them years), has (attempted) to play golf since he was 12 years old and has got worse every year, has worked with SpecialEffect for a number of years and is currently serving as an ambassador for the charity.

brian-woodhouse

Brian Woodhouse

Brian is Lucid Games’ Business Director and GM at Assemble Technology. A 25-year career in games with Sony, Bizarre Creations and Lucid – who are now part of Lightspeed/TenCent Studios.

Liverpool FC, mulligans & the foot wedge are some of his favourite things. Golfing hero is Donald Trump..(joke!)
